Himiko Akaguro (赤黒 緋身子 Akaguro Himiko) is one of two strongest jujutsu sorcerers from over a thousand years ago. Known to be the Queen of Corruption (腐敗の女王 Fuhai no Joō), Himiko is one of the primary antagonists of the Jujutsu Kaisen series.

According to legend, Himiko was a Fallen Angel (堕天使 Daten-shi) during the Heian Era. In actuality, she was a human sorcerer also noted to be the Devil Child (悪魔の子供 Akuma no Kodomo). Despite the attempt of jujutsu sorcerers trying to take her down, they ultimately failed. Himiko existed throughout the ages by transforming into a cursed object after death where her power was split into twenty indestructible jars of blood.

Himiko was incarnated in June 2018 when Emiko Mayoi consumed a jar of her blood. Himiko was trapped inside of Emiko's body and was rarely in control until she managed to create a new body of herself.

Himiko is a relatively short girl with a somewhat fair complexion. Her hair is long and white in colour, almost matching her skin tone, while the two strands that frame her face are black. Her eyes are dark grey with a white iris and thick white eyelashes similar to Satoru Gojo. She is frequently seen smiling, her mouth being feline-like as her canines were pointed, furthermore adding to her vampiric appearance. Her features are very sharp, but upon Emiko Mayoi becoming her host, Himiko's facial features were softened.

In her innate domain, Himiko wore a black kimono with a yellow edge that was decorated with red and white details and sported black and gold sandals. She also has dark red spider lilies plastered over the bottom of the kimono and from her shoulders down to the end of the sleeves.

Himiko is an unstable yet energetic woman, who is constantly seen with a smile on her face that is still apparent even after inflicting pain onto someone else or at the very idea of it. Living up to her name as Queen of Corruption, she is more than willing to take from others if it means that she can be entertained, especially in regards to their blood.

From when she was younger, Himiko always had been curious about social norms and how they shaped society. Although she was capable of adapting to any group by slipping into a suitable persona, Himiko never saw that as being enough to get closer with or understand a person, henceforth began taking an interest in their blood and even going as far as to drinking it. She disregards the consequences of her actions by saying that her way of 'normal' wasn't much different to how society - especially jujutsu society - acts either, which is what prompts her to encourage everyone, even her foes, to go all out, so when she wins, their blood will be hers to treasure. However, whenever someone she isn't intrigued with attempts to overthrow or is simply boring her, Himiko has no problem harming them with a frigid, irritated, and vexed demeanour as revealed when Mahito touched her soul, even though it was accidental.

She is very childish and constantly talks in a carefree manner, commonly poking fun at Emiko and even going as far to making fun of Mukuro Kamakiri, one of the strongest jujutsu sorcerers, stating that she would kill the woman right to her face. Everyone who comes across Himiko has to be their guard no matter what because she is someone to never underestimate as she is very calculating, observant and intelligent. Himiko's facade is to simply manipulate and take advantage of unsuspecting victims, which was the case during the Shibuya Incident when she murdered various citizens in a cold-blooded fashion without having to properly fight them. However, her childish demeanour can make her seem as though she were an actual child, displaying somewhat of a temper tantrum upon finding out that Mahito and Hitoshi were dating, furthermore making her think less of her brother only because she figured he would do better than be with someone like the former.

Despite her disturbing ways, she has been shown to be very compassionate and loving towards her comrades, mainly Sukuna and Uraume. Himiko affectionately calls Sukuna 'Suki' and treats Uraume as being more than a servant, seeing them as a best friend. The two don't ever complain about her behaviour since they've grown used to it, revealing that she does possess strong genuine love. It's noted that Himiko does wonder if someone, other than her associates, is odd like her, but is enraged when it comes to Emiko's worldviews of  accepting everyone without having a chance to know anything about them. She views her host as being the very essence of everything she detests, especially when Emiko began sympathizing with the cursed spirit, to which Himiko reminds her that even though they're born from a human, their species are forever different. She made sure that Emiko remembered her as nothing more than a curse, who was happy with the life she led and the people that made it better, which would be the only thing her and Hitoshi agree with upon reuniting in the afterlife.

BACKGROUND

Over a thousand years ago, Himiko was born as the youngest child of triplets and has two older brothers, Tsurugi and Hitoshi Akaguro. Her mother, Akemi, came from a family of jujutsu sorcerers, but never wielded any abilities, and her father passed away before his children were born; he was never mentioned to Himiko or her siblings.

Since early childhood, Himiko was always considered to be odd by everyone in her village. Although she was raised in a wealthy household, she never found satisfaction in terms of riches or how beloved she was, but was far more interested in people's blood. Her enjoyment towards the topic was so extreme that she would attack children and animals, licking their blood afterwards to get a 'taste of their true character'. This would commonly occur in the family home with Tsurugi and Hitoshi as Himiko disliked how contempt they were with their 'boring life'. It wasn't until she got older that Himiko was isolated and chained up in the woods, frequently getting drowned in holy water to 'purge her demons'.

However, Himiko was soon able to overpower all of the villagers that either watched or were responsible for her getting tortured, mutilating their bodies so badly that they were unrecognisable. Still covered in the blood of her victims, she soon made her way back home and slaughtered Akemi, Hitoshi and Tsurugi. Much like the other villagers, Himiko was disappointed that she was never able to understand who they truly were due to her judgement being overshadowed by the pressure of their community for what they believed to be right. Shortly after this, she came across Ryomen Sukuna and Uraume, accepting them as her comrades.

Before her death, Himiko was assisted by Kenjaku in achieving a form of existence beyond death by dividing her soul into twenty cursed objects made from her blood. Although binding vows were established to maintain their existence without causing harm, Himiko's blood steadily gained strength over the millennia, ultimately being classified as special grade cursed objects by Jujutsu High.

ABILITIES AND POWERS

During the Golden Age of Jujutsu, Himiko Akaguro was a dangerous and talented sorcerer, who was on par with Ryomen Sukuna in terms of defeating multiple jujutsu sorcerers. She's a master of disguise and deception, easily allowing her to allure anyone into the palm of her hands, which earned her the title "Queen of Corruption". Despite how her cursed techniques could have been a weakness, Himiko was easily able to adapt to combine her powers with her reflexes and agility, even maintaining a focused composure when finding openings to attack, a direct contrast to how energetic she usually is. Although having a massive distaste for their sister, her abilities are something that Hitoshi and Tsurugi commonly use as they're aware that Himiko's talents are what kept her hidden in plain sight.

↳ Incarnation (受肉 Juniku): There is a slim chance that Himiko will incarnate into whoever ingests her blood, therefore earning herself a physical, human body. Due to Emiko drinking the first of her twenty jars, Himiko immediately possessed her body, using it to inhabit whenever she's not in control. Like Sukuna, she is able to split her soul as cursed objects upon using her domain expansion when on the brink of death during the Shibuya Incident. She soon demonstrated this by slowly taking all of the blood ingested in Emiko's body and implanted it into a new one that was used with Mahito's cursed technique, Idle Transfiguraition.

↳ Ghost: Himiko is able to appear as ghost soul, allowing her to talk and see without having to control Emiko's body. She is able to disappear and reappear whenever she wants, but most of the time, Emiko has to swat her away. Two unique traits of this abilty is that Himiko can't go far and can only go so far as five feet away from her host and being able to consume a jar of her blood through her hand, which was shown during the last episode of season one.

✧ CURSED ENERGY ✧
↳ Cursed Energy Capacity: While she may not possess the title of Queen of Curses, Himiko's immense cursed energy likely exceeds that of both special grade cursed spirits and sorcerers. Yuta Okkotsu, a special grade sorcerer with more cursed energy than Satoru Gojo and Mukuro Kamakiri, claims that Himiko has at least double their levels of cursed energy. She is able to use multiple sorcerers' techniques whilst shapeshifting to look like someone else in the process with no problem. Even when she first used her domain expansion up against Mukuro, who put up her decaying technique to use as defence, Himiko was able to cast the same ability two more times and possibly more.

↳ Cursed Energy Manipulation: Himiko possesses remarkable mastery of her cursed energy, demonstrating exceptional skill in employing advanced cursed techniques that demand intricate manipulation, including domain expansion and reverse cursed techniques, which she can execute flawlessly and consistently without any problems. When using other people's cursed techniques, Himiko seemingly never runs out of cursed energy, allowing her to continuously fight back against opponents.

↳ Cursed Energy Output: Himiko constantly imbues her techniques with cursed energy, so they can be used with their full potential, in hopes that whoever she's fighting against will do the same. She's able to immediately kill someone, no matter if she uses a technique or not, contrasting with Yuta Okkotsu's usage of Cleave.

↳ Cursed Energy Reinforcement: Although clearly having to infuse her cursed techniques with cursed energy, Himiko has no problem fighting with no powers involved. Cursed energy constantly flows through her veins (at her own amusement), amplifying her abilities to the max and making her seem more powerful than she already is.

↳ Black Flash (黒閃 Kokusen): A phenomenon that occurs when the user applies cursed energy within 0.000001 seconds of a physical hit, creating a spatial distortion that causes their cursed energy to flash black and amplifies the destructive power of the strike to the power of 2.5. Like Emiko, Himiko is capable of using Black Flash more than seven times, but rarely uses it.

✧ BINDING VOWS ✧
Himiko has an unnamed binding vow with Emiko. Himiko suggested the idea to share with her host a cursed technique under two conditions: ① the more techniques Emiko uses, the more visible that Himiko's markings would grow onto her and ② Emiko would forget about the first agreement. Once all of the markings are imprinted, Emiko would have to allow Himiko to take over until she's ready to give the body back. The deal was then sealed upon Himiko bringing up what happened at the Detention Centre, using Yuuji's death against her host.

✧ CURSED TECHNIQUES ✧
↳ Bloody Mary (ブラッディマリー Buraddimarī): By ingesting someone else's blood, Emiko is able to use their cursed techniques, including those that are genetically passed down. She does not need to collect the blood of a technique she has already used again as the blood will stay in her system. However, since her and Himiko share the same technique, the Queen of Corruption is able to use the blood her host has gathered to her advantage. During the Culling Games, as a result of Himiko managing to create a new body for herself, Emiko no longer shared this technique.

↳ Bloodsucker (血まみれ人 Chimamire): Due to the blood she ingested to use someone else's technique, Himiko can also shapeshift herself into looking like the same person. She doesn't have a time limit as to how long she looks like someone, allowing her to turn back to normal or replicate another person. However, if she turns into someone who possesses a cursed technique, she can only use the technique of that person if remaining in their form. She cannot turn into curses, but can use their techniques regardless (case in point being Mahito).

✧ DOMAIN EXPANSION ✧
↳ Sinister Sanctum (不吉な聖域 Fukitsuna Seiiki): Himiko's Domain Expansion revolves around a gothic styled church that is black and red in colour. She summons the domain by the sign of the cross, soon clasping her hand together in a prayer sign afterwards. The domain's guaranteed hit-ability consists of blood smashing through the church's windows, soon turning into powerful, bladed tendrils that can pierce through defences. Himiko has the ability to expand the domain without closing the barrier to create a separate space, resulting in a binding vow as allowing an escape route from the domain that enables her to expand the effective range of the guaranteed-hit up to a maximum radius of nearly 200 meters.
